One of the most unique attractions along the Gatlinburg TN strip, Speedwerkz Exotic Car Experience is proof that hard work pays off and dreams really do come true. Let’s go behind the scenes into how Speedwerkz got its name, the inspiration and vision for this one-of-a-kind experience, and how a few local East Tennesseans turned their childhood fantasies into reality.  

The Vision

For Oliver (one of the Speedwerkz owners), car posters decorated his childhood bedroom walls: a white Lamborghini Countach, red Ferrari F40, and a Porsche 930 Turbo. Every car enthusiast remembers the first time they saw their dream car in person, and these business partners are no different, as they became avid sports car lovers from an early age. From fixing up their own cars to dirt bikes and jet skis, speed was always at the forefront. 

The idea of an exotic car museum was a fantasy, something that didn’t seem possible. But what started as a love of cars turned into making Speedwerkz license plate frames for friends (which are still sold in the souvenir shop today) and eventually, the massive 14,000 square foot attraction featuring a rotating collection of rare cars worth tens of millions. 

The Name

So how did the name Speedwerkz come to be? Matt, another one of the owners, remembers being asked to go to clubs and parties, but always declined with the phrase: “Speed works for me!” He always loved fast cars, and that adrenaline rush was better for him than any party scene could be. 

Now, the name Speewerkz combines the owners’ personal love for fast cars and inspiring others to achieve their dreams. At our Gatlinburg car museum, we are selling fun. Even if you’re not a car enthusiast, it’s a place where you can appreciate the art, design, and engineering of these beautiful supercars.

The Timeline

Speedwerkz Exotic Car Experience was 25 years in the making, but started to become a reality in 2021, when a 14,000 sq. foot building became available (which rarely happens). After over a year of construction, the building was rebuilt from the ground up, bringing their vision to life. 

March 10, 2023 was the Grand Opening when we officially opened our doors in one of the most beautiful tourist towns in the Great Smoky Mountains, welcoming over 12 million visitors annually!

The Experience 

What makes Speedwerkz unique from other attractions? Many “museums” are lifeless, with plexiglass barriers and static displays, but we introduced movement and advanced audio-visual technology in order to create an atmosphere that’s like a video game come to life. Each car is set on a turner, so instead of having to move around to see the display, you can stand in one spot and watch the car come to life before your eyes, every contour and angle available to see and admire. 

With our modern Dubai industrial style, Speedwerkz is an experience that you don’t really see anywhere else in the Smokies. So even if you’re being dragged in by a gearhead or car fanatic, you’ll leave saying that it was a really awesome experience, due in large part to our cars but also our high-tech racing simulators and photo opportunities.
